Edward and Ann's family eventually comprised five sons and one daughter. To meet the needs of their growing family, Edward, with "small remunerations from his political activities," added this parlor, two bedrooms above, and a porch across the entire front of the house.
Much of the furniture is original to the Funston family, including the marble top table. Edward's picture hangs on the south wall. On the north wall hangs the frame with its replacement mirror, Edward having purchased this frame and the original mirror during the Civil War.
